It is evident that the best way to help someone out of poverty is to equip them with the tools to get out of the cycle of deprivation and onward to self-sustainability.
Money is only a small part of this equation. Fields of Life identifies communities in need and provides them with the necessary capital to start a business, and the training to help keep their business sustainable. This provides a community with a source of dignity and enables them to make positive lifestyle choices.
When it comes to ending poverty in Uganda the facts are actually simple! Most Ugandans live in rural areas where hunger is concentrated. With the farm land they have, a little help can produce much more food.
As a direct result men and women in Uganda are making great strides in the fight to produce more food and provide for their families
In four years Gifts of life alongside the women and men working so hard has greatly led to improvement of household income, giving them the support has helped them that within in one or two season, can see a small garden move from subsistence to surplus.
In Uganda, as in Europe, farming is a business and the key to making a lasting impact on rural biting poverty in Uganda is helping small organized farmers make a profit from their small business of farming. Our work goes further because we believe that the key role of gifts of life is to advocate on behalf of the rural communities in Uganda
As farming becomes harder and more complex, gifts of life is promoting the long term interests of the rural communities by giving farmers improved seeds and improved livestock which are resistant to animal and plant disease. In all this work, we are glad to say that we have two important set of partners the first being the communities we work with and our dear donors with whom this work would not move.
