Fields of Life has been involved with agricultural projects in Uganda since 1995, when a 110 acre farm was established where animal and crop husbandry was practised. As useful as the farm was, we realised that for the majority of people in Uganda, a project of this sort is only a dream. The question therefore was, ‘how do we help people in the village to help themselves?' As we cannot go out and buy land for each family we felt we could help them start income generating projects.
Uganda depends so much on agriculture and most people living in the rural areas have some land. Helping the people in rural areas purchase livestock, fruit trees and seeds is an enormous benefit. Since not everyone would want an income generating gift that was agriculturally based, Fields of Life decided to include other items, like sewing machines, as well as the agricultural gifts in the gifts of life items.
The gifts will enable families to boost their incomes thus affording the basics of food, clothing and educating their children. The prices of the gifts are listed in the ‘Gift Shop' and start from as little as £2/€3.
So why not help a Ugandan family today by purchasing a gift of life for your family, friends and loved ones, whether it be a present for Christmas, birthdays, Easter or just to make an incredible difference to the families that receive them in helping them to help themselves.
