The beginning. 1995 - 1997

Fields of Life is a registered Charity in the UK and Ireland, established in 1995 by Trevor and Ruth Stevenson. The original vision to pioneer a training farm developed into a needs based response to build a primary school for the local community.
The result - Fields of Life Academy built and established in 1997.

The development. (to date)

Education
Education became the main focus of the work, under the direction of Trevor Stevenson.
Over 20,000 children now attend the 55+ schools built by FOL in East Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi and Congo), predominantly Uganda, offering an opportunity for survival and hope for the future. Many children suffer from the culture of poverty - sickness, malnutrition, broken homes and despair.

Social care
There are 4 medical centres providing community base health care. Well drilling has commenced in various rural communities where clean water is not readily available.
Micro finance projects are boosting incomes at local level giving people the dignity of providing for their families, instead of turning to crime, begging or prostitution for an income.

The future

Mission
To change lives and build sustainable communities through teaching the Christian faith and through the provision of quality education, health care and income generating projects.

Funding plan
To share internationally the very specific needs of our friends in East Africa. To keep donors informed of the life changing effects of their contribution. (Note - 98% of any donation will be sent to East Africa)

The big question was could we build a school in a country where we had little or no contacts? The answer was that we could build there and found big support in encouraging us to repeat what we have done in Uganda. Let me tell you a little about the country.....
